2014 Poppy Parker Fashion Teens

These ladies are 16" Poppy Parker Fashion Teens by Integrity Toys:  Floating Dream (blonde) and Sunny Splash (brunette).  I posted these pictures on the W Club forum, but this is their first appearance here.  Just wanted to share the pictures!  Dream is wearing a Gene gown (um, I think ... I got it secondhand) and Splash is wearing an Alex dress.

Floating Dream has such a beautiful hairstyle!  I hope this hair never gets messed up.  I want her to look like this forever.  (Hate the name "Floating Dream," though ... It sounds a little corny.  LOL.)  She's a romantic girly-girl.

Sunny Splash looks like more of a sporty girl, with her no-nonsense hair and confident expression.  I didn't get any pictures of Splash in her original bathing suit outfit.  Sorry.  I couldn't wait to redress her.  She'd gotten sand in the swimsuit and was dying to take it off.  LOL.

Here's Dream in her original gown. It's beautifully constructed, with a fairly elaborate bodice design, and hooks up the back instead of a zipper.  When I was photographing her I somehow managed to get a spot of dirt right on her bust, so I had to take the gown off to hand-wash the dirt out in the sink.  Ack!  That was actually what prompted me to put her in the black gown shown up above.  She rocks black, too, though.  I think she'd pretty much work in any color. 

 

Included this closeup (below) just so you can see the necklace better.  The pearls are strung onto string.  It doesn't seem like the sturdiest-made necklace in the world, but it looks quite nice.  The stone part makes me think of topaz, and does look very much like a genuine gemstone, although I'm sure it must be fake. 

The last picture is just so you can see Sunny Splash and It's A Wrap side-by-side, for comparison.  They look so different!  Both side-glancing with brown hair, but with completely different looks.  Splash has grey eyes, by the way, while It's A Wrap (on the left) has blue.

Photo shoot with the 16" girls

With the reveal of the 2014 Poppy Parker Fashion Teens, I was inspired to take pictures of a few of my 16" girls.  This is "Winter Wowzers" in an Alex outfit; "One Fine Day" in the outfit from FR16 Obsidian Culture Hanne; and "Spring Morning" in One Fine Day's clothes.

I've discovered the older I get, the worse my eyesight gets.  And the worse my eyesight gets, the more I like 16" dolls over 12".  Sigh.


Now two last pictures, of "One Fine Day" and "It's A Wrap." I took these pictures last week, but haven't had an opportunity to post them yet. Poor Wrap gets outshined in pretty much every picture she's in because of her muted face paint.  Here she's favoring Kate Middleton in a white Tonner outfit with a feathery fascinator, and Fashion Royalty earrings.  "Day" is wearing Gene Marshall.  It is super nice that these girls (and Tulabelle, too) can wear both Gene outfits and Alex outfits, as well as most Tonner clothes.

I've noted that Alex pants are short in the leg for them, but they do fit in the waist. I've never owned an Alex, but she must be a shorter girl.

New 16" Poppy Parker Fashion Teens

Integrity recently revealed their 2014 Poppy Parker Fashion Teen 16" collection!  Love all of them, although so far I've only ordered the two brunettes.  I kept watering and fertilizing that money tree, but it's just not growing very fast this year.  As soon as it blooms, I'll get the other two. 

The theme this year is a trip to Paris, and these outfits were apparently what designer David Buttry imagined Poppy wore at various times during her Paris stay.  Love that.  Very creative!

The one that seemed the most popular on the W Club forum (Integrity Toys' official club forum) was "Fashionably Suited," the one in the pink suit and navy blue hat.  Gorgeous, and she's my favorite of the group.  She made me think of actress Olivia de Havilland, probably just because of the hair and eye color.

Anyway, I'm a big fan of beautifully-tailored suits (both on dolls AND on people), so I had to get this one.  The doll looks like she'll have several nice mix-and-match pieces, because she has on a navy blue "shell"-type top on underneath the pink suit jacket.  The bow at the neck is actually a separate scarf, not connected to the blouse.  I love the hat, too.  The  MegaPoppys always come with the best hats.

And I'm SO GLAD there is another brown-eyed 16" Poppy, because up until now, there has only ever been ONE brown-eyed 16" Poppy, and that was Love Letters from a couple years ago. 

My second choice was the one in the lavender beach wear.  Swimsuits, however, are a throw away outfit for me ... meaning I throw them in a drawer and never look at them again.  Ha!  Not a swimsuit fan, although the lavender ruffles are so beautifully done.  It really IS a pretty swimsuit, but I don't want my dolls standing around in swimsuits.  The beach beauty is called "Sunny Splash."  Her face paint is wonderful.  I think this will be a beautiful doll redressed.  I have zero interest in the outfit.

My third favorite was "Ma Cherie," the green-eyed blonde in the turquoise dress.  The dress is very reminiscent of the dress from the 12" Foto Fab Poppy.  I loved it on her, and I love it in 16" form as well.  The styles are a bit different; the 16" dress is not an exact replica of the 12" one.  It's a lovely style, though, and fluffy cocktail dresses are my absolute favorite among favorites, so I'll have to get this one for her clothes eventually.

I do like her face as well, though.  I don't normally dig bright blue eyeshadow on dolls, but it looked so good on last year's Winter Wowzers that I have high hopes it will look great on Ma Cherie as well.

Last on my list is the platinum blonde in the coral gown, who is called "Floating Dream."  Seeing this gown reminded me of a similar Tonner gown in coral, which he did both in the 22" size AND in the 10" size for Tiny Kitty.  Integrity's version isn't TOO similar to Tonner's, but it would have helped if they hadn't been the same color.  LOL.  I have to say, the ruffles on the Integrity gown look very opulent and amazing.  The Tonner gown didn't have the ruffles or the sequins on the skirt, and the bodice was cut differently.

I would have loved this Poppy gown in a bronze-brown, especially if the doll had had brown eyes, too.  I never loved coral, anyway (or chartreusse, either).  She's pretty, though, and I don't have a 16" Poppy with that hair color yet.  I'm not really sure if I'm going to get this one or not.  We'll see.

Here's the Tonner gown I mentioned, on "Champagne Supper" Tiny Kitty.  I just thought it would be interesting to compare the two.  There are a lot of differences, so it's very obvious that one isn't a copy of the other.  I think it's more a matter of there only being a finite number of colors in this world, and that both gowns reflect the same time period, the 1950s and 1960s.  I love the clothing from that period, which is probably why I'm both a Tiny Kitty fan AND a Poppy Parker fan.

More MegaPoppys: Spring Morning and One Fine Day

One purchase and one trade later, I've now added to my 16" Poppy Parker Fashion Teen collection.  I've managed to get a hold of 2013's "One Fine Day" and 2012's "Spring Morning."  It was interesting to get to see one of the original 2012s next to the newer dolls.  For one thing, "Spring Morning" (the luscious redhead in these photos) seemed floppy compared to the newer 2013s.  Her joints were just a bit looser, which made it trickier to pose her.  She also had an issue where her removeable hands fit a little too loosely in the wrist sockets.  The hands weren't so loose that they were falling out, but they weren't *quite* as snug as they should be, either.  Apparently this issue was corrected for the 2013 collection, because none of mine from 2013 have the problem.

Another thing I noticed was "Spring Morning's" face shape is slightly different. ... She's slightly more wider-faced than the 2013s.  Her hairline is lower, too.  A while ago, I'd contacted Integrity Toys to ask if the newer Poppy 16s have a different face sculpt, but was assured it's the same sculpt.

I have two theories as to why "Spring Morning" has a wider face.  #1:  Perhaps it has to do with how the soft vinyl heads were pulled out of the molds, or #2: perhaps the mold used for the 2013s may have been different.  From my limited understanding, companies have more than one mold of the same face.  (Therefore, if one mold breaks or gets worn out from use, they'll still have another.)  The 2013s may have been cast with a different mold, even though they are the same sculpt. 

Anyway, I think the 2012 dolls are every bit as beautiful as the 2013s.  I mean, look at that face!  I had to get "Spring Morning."  I wanted to get her before she was completely sold out everywhere.  Plus, she's the only 16" Poppy so far with left-glancing eyes. 

I washed the gel out her hair, though.

 

"One Fine Day" comes with a pair of really beautiful earrings; a bracelet, a wonderful hat, sunglasses and a bright red hard-shell bag.  The sunglasses are cute but seem a bit fragile.  Everything else is so amazing!  The bag really opens.  The shoes are basic red pumps with bows on the tops.  They would have been a lot more versatile for redressing if Integrity had left off the bows.

 

I seriously love these earrings.

 

I ended up plucking out the bangs on my "One Fine Day."  The bangs are set far back from the hairline, which I personally loved, because it meant I could use tweezers to pluck them out without disrupting the hairline or doing a partial re-root.  Yay!  I think she looks amazing without the bangs.  It only took about 15 minutes. Now she looks even more like Michelle Pfeiffer than she did before.  LOL.  She also makes me think of Samantha from the TV show "Bewitched."  Might just be the curled, retro hairstyle, though.

The 16" Poppy Parker Fashion Teens

The Glad Game, right out of the box.

I thought I'd revisit these dolls, since I just got "The Glad Game" (the blonde) in a trade.  I wanted to show her off, and also show my others redressed.  Integrity Toys will be releasing another collection of the 16" Poppys later this year.  I asked them in an e-mail, and they confirmed it.  I can't wait to see what the new collection looks like!

They need to do another brown-eyed one, for sure.  The only 16" Poppy so far to have brown eyes was "Love Letters" from 2012.  That's it.

In fact, there has been an over-abundance of blue eyes in the collections from 2012 and 2013.  Of a total of nine, SIX of them have blue eyes (Magic Moment's eyes are half grey and half aqua blue, but overall look blue).  I think the Poppy Fashion Teens must all be Swedish or something.  LOL!  Blonde hair is also slightly over-represented, with four blondes out of the nine.  So listen up, Integrity!  We need more brown and grey eyes in the next collection, eh?  Oh, and more black hair.  Winter Wowzers is the only one with that fabulous raven-black hair.

Winter Wowzers, by the way, is definitely my favorite.  Her sassy, know-it-all expression is just priceless.  I now have one Poppy in each hair color!  Yay! 

I washed out Wowzer's ponytail in the sink.  I didn't boil it or anything ... just washed it out with liquid dish detergent to get out the gunky hair gel.  It washed out beautifully!  I think the ponytail looks much better, now.  Isn't it gorgeous?  Click here to see what the ponytail looked like originally.  Now it's soft, and much more natural-looking.

Poppy Parker 16" Fashion Teens: Winter Wowzers and Magic Moment

Movie star.

I always have high expectations from Integrity Toys, but these two actually exceeded my expectations.  I think they're just lovely.  They are "Winter Wowzers" and "Magic Moment" Poppy Parker, from the 16" Fashion Teen line.  I only had one other 16" Poppy: "It's a Wrap" from last year's Integrity Toys convention.  There were a total of four dolls from the 2013 collection.  The other two were the blondes "The Glad Game" and "One Fine Day."  I believe the four were supposed to represent the four seasons, with the redhead being autumn and the raven being winter.  Very cool!  I love that.  Each doll was an edition of only 300. 

MAGIC MOMENT

I instantly loved "Magic Moment," the redhead.  She reminded me of Ginger from Gilligan's Island.  I grew up on that show.  I love this doll's hair color; love her dress; love the black faux fur wrap.  It's so soft!  Her eyes are an interesting grey/aqua color that is absolutely lovely.  Each eye is half grey and half aqua in a very literal sense ... very unusual.

I didn't attempt to put on her long black gloves.  I did examine them, and noticed they have a unique design.  They aren't open all the way down their length, but they have slit openings on either side of the wrist.  It looks like Integrity meant for you to take off the doll's hand to slide the bulk of the glove on her arm, and then try to fit her hand inside the opening on the side of the glove.  Theoretically, it should make it easier to put on the long gloves this way.  I attempted it briefly, but it wasn't worth the effort.  I wish Integrity would make optional, removable "glove hands" that have the fingers close together.  I start stressing even THINKING about putting gloves on those splayed fingers Integrity loves to put on their dollies.

Her gloves seemed to have had all the fingers separated in her promo pics, but the gloves on the actual doll do not have separate fingers.  Maybe they really wanted to give the gloves separate fingers, but came to the conclusion it would be too difficult on a doll this scale?  Don't know.

WINTER WOWZERS

I got Wowzers mostly because I have a weakness for raven hair.  I wasn't expecting to love her face coloring as much as I do.  She's a sultry vixen!  A bit Bettie Page.  I don't normally like blue eyeshadow on dolls, but it totally works for her.  She manages to outshine "It's a Wrap," with Wrap's more subdued coloring.  I think if the two of them were in a room together, all the boys would be looking at Winter Wowzers, and poor Wrap would feel left out and sad.  LOL. 

Out of all four of the 2013 Fashion Teens, I liked Wowzer's outfit the least.  It's OK, just not totally my style.  I wish they'd toned down the BRIGHT BRIGHT BRIGHT on the sweater a bit.  (I guess I'm not into BRIGHT unless we're talking about IQs.)  I wouldn't have chosen a (dalmation? cow? cat?) spotted print for the coat.  I'm just nit-picking, though.  Winter Wowzers is pretty special.  She's fierce and sweet at the same time.  Overall, it's a good look.  I do like her pants and cute boots, and of course the clothes on both dolls are high quality, fully lined and impeccably tailored, like the clothing on all Integrity dolls.
