MakieLab moving to the U.S.

Wow.  This is a complete coincidence, but exactly one day after I made that last post about my new Makie, I found out that MakieLab, the London company who makes the Makie dolls, is relocating to the United States!  I have no idea what this means for the company, but I'll be interested to see what changes, if any, happen because of the move.  I hope they don't change too much, but I wish them the best of luck.

  1. Interesting! I wonder why they're making the move...

Sounds like great news for people who wanted cheaper shipping to the US, and disappointing news for people who liked something local in the UK or within the EU who might get stuck with customs charges on their orders now.

    1. Yes, exactly. The U.K. fans are super upset by the news, because they'll now be stuck with customs fees whenever they buy Makies (from what I'm seeing reading the Makies Fan Forum on Facebook). Additionally, it seems there are a few other European countries who will now get stuck with higher custom fees than they're already paying, because their fees increase if the package is from outside Europe.

I saw someone post that MakieLab is moving because producing the dolls from London is too expensive, but if that's true, then I don't understand why they don't just move to a different part of England, outside London. I'm super curious as to what the actual reason is.
